Snowshoeing Trails

Leadville is located near the junction of U.S. Hwy 24 & State Hwy 91 at an elevation of 10,430 feet. The trails near Leadville, Colorado are located in the Leadville Ranger District of the San Isabel National Forest. The town is minutes from the national forest trailheads and is a major supply point for those snowshoeing in the region.

Cooper Loop Leadville Ranger District Cooper Loop skirts the outer boundary of the Cooper Ski Area. The entire loop is 6 miles and will take an entire day to complete.
Hagerman Pass Leadville Ranger District Visitors traveling the entire Hagerman Pass Road from Turquoise Lake Road (Forest Road 105) to Fryingpan Lakes Road (State Highway 4) drive 22.5 miles.
Mitchell Creek Loop Leadville Ranger District Mitchell Creek Loop is approximately 7.3 miles long with varying degrees of difficulty. Users can gain access to this trail from Highway 24 about 9 miles northwest of Leadville.
Powderhound Loop Leadville Ranger District The Powderhound Loop is located on the summit of Tennessee Pass. The trail is 2.5 miles long and reaches an elevation of 10,680'.
Treeline Loop Leadville Ranger District This trail leads skiers in a 2.3 mile loop that begins from Ski Cooper. The trail access the Continental Divide.
Turquoise Lake Dam Trail Leadville Ranger District The trail runs from the Sugar Loaf Dam to May Queen campground, paralleling the shoreline of Turquoise Lake.
