Canon City, Colorado
Mountain Biking Trails

Canon City is located on U.S. Hwy 50 west of Pueblo at an elevation of 5,348 feet. The town is minutes from trailheads located in the San Carlos Ranger District of the San Isabel National Forest and is a major supply point for those biking in the region.

Description

Apishapa Trail San Carlos Ranger District Apishapa Trail starts from the Cordova Road Trailhead and junctions after about 3 miles with West Peak Trail. It is possible to make a loop using this trail, West Spanish Peak Trail and Wade Trail.
Cuchara Recreation Area San Carlos Ranger District Cuchara Recreation Area gives outdoor enthusiasts a myriad of choices: Picnicking, hiking and walking, hunting and lake fishing as well as a four-wheel drive road and trail suitable for ATV's and dirt bikes.
Dikes Trail San Carlos Ranger District There is a railroad tie staircase with a handrail at the trailhead; there is also a trail register board. Don't forget to sign in. The tread is awfully narrow for mountain bikes. Beware of protruding foliage.
Dodgeton Trail San Carlos Ranger District This trail starts at Spring Creek Trailhead, where there is parking, a new toilet and picnicking facilities. It is designated as a multiple use trail.
Indian Creek Trail San Carlos Ranger District The trail starts at the north end of Bear Lake; connects with Baker and Dodgeton Trails, goes over Raspberry Mountain and ends at Indian Creek Road (County Road 421).
Lakes of the Clouds Trail San Carlos Ranger District There is no designated parking at the trailhead but there is ample parking along the road. You follow the Rainbow Trail for 2 miles of gentle walking to the marked trailhead for Lake of the Clouds.
Shortcut Trail San Carlos Ranger District This trail links with Indian Creek and Dodgeton Trails and can make a nice loop with Shortcut and Dodgeton Trails.
Trinchera Peak Trailhead San Carlos Ranger District Access to Trinchera Peak Trailhead is located above Cuchara on the left side of Blue Lake, which is part of the Cuchara Recreation Area. There is some parking for 2WD vehicles at the trailhead.
