Leadville is located near
the junction of U.S. Hwy 24 & State Hwy 91 at an elevation of 10,430
feet. A wide variety
of recreation opportunities are available to campers in the Leadville
area. The mountainous topography allows for fishing, hiking, biking, backpacking,
horseback riding and more. Other attractions include two recreation areas
centered upon reservoirs. Twin Lakes and Turquoise Lake Reservoirs provide
access to water-centered activities including boating and fishing. In
winter visitors can enjoy downhill skiing, snowmobiling, cross-country
skiing, and snowshoeing.
